The fumigation of various cargos during sea transport is a common treatment in the international trade. Millions of tonnes of cargo are fumigated during their journey from their country of origin to their final destination.
Gas measurements on board of ships
Fumigation inside the vessel’s hold is often carried out during the journey. Before the ship reaches its unloading destination, it must be determined if all residual gases have dissipated. A gas-free certificate must be present which is obtained by carrying out a measurement. EWS employs staff members who are trained for this purpose, who have the right equipment to carry out these measurements and who are authorised to issue gas-free certificates.
