Birds are traditionally uninvited guests in vegetable gardens, orchards and on arable land. They eat cultivated fruits and freshly sown seeds. Nowadays, bird nuisance is a problem, especially in built-up areas. Think of nesting gulls that soil cars and buildings or large quantities of feral pigeons on streets and squares.

Often, they are fed by people so that not only more birds, but also all kinds of other unwanted pests are encouraged. If birds operate in large groups, they also cause noise and odour nuisance. They can also transmit secondary bacteria and pathogens to humans and thus, pose a risk to public health.
