Heat Treatment

Wood harming insects, such as woodworm, long-horned beetle and fungi can cause a lot of material and financial damage. EWS can offer excellent advice and adequate solutions. We use the latest techniques, such as Heat Treatment.

Due to a European ban on the use of methyl bromide, methyl bromide fumigation for ISPM-15 is no longer possible. The only allowed alternative for ISPM-15 treatment is so-called Heat Treatment.

This hot air treatment heats the harmed wood to at least 54 degrees centigrade right into the core, because of which all stages of insects, such as woodworm and long-horned beetle, are killed. The treatment takes place with special hot air equipment placed outside the house or object to be treated. The heated open air is blown into the space to be treated via hoses or pipes.

In places that are hard to heat, sensors are attached to the wood to also be able to determine the wood’s core temperature. The temperature is registered and filed in the computer every 10 minutes. When all sensors indicate the correct core temperature, heating is continued for at least another hour. The wood-drilling insects are definitely killed in every stage

Carrying out this heat treatment in accordance with ISPM-15 should, just like fumigation, be done by a certified company. EWS Pest control helps you stop active as well as new damage, but we also carry out inspections and draw up reports, for example for the purchase or sale of real estate. Also check out EWS Pest control for our other techniques to control wood harming insects.
